A School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) school bus was involved in a collision this morning in the Salmo area. The students on board the bus were checked out by emergency services at the scene and two students were further assessed at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson. All students and the bus driver are okay.

The Salmo RCMP advised SD8 that the occupants of the vehicle that collided with the school bus were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Families and staff were notified immediately about the accident and the children on the bus as well as children waiting for the bus were safely transported to school by a second school bus.

“We are relieved that all students and staff involved in this incident were able to return to school and home. Students or families who identify they need additional supports can make arrangements through their school principal to access those supports” said Superintendent Trish Smillie.
