Let the Falcons soar! 

The Salmo Secondary Senior Girls Basketball team swooped in to take the East and West Kootenay Zone A Championship in Golden on February 16 for the first time in 30 years. The last time a Salmo girls' team won the Zone Championship was in 1994 and they went on to win provincials.

- School graduation rates increase as three-year graduation plans take effect for all grade 10-12 students

More students crossed a high school stage last spring to receive a Dogwood Diploma than ever before in School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake).

The Kootenay River Secondary School kitchen got a makeover this year! The kitchen renovation, completed in January 2025, includes all new cabinetry and countertops, a prep island, new plumbing fixtures and a sanitizing dishwasher, as well as a new fume hood and updates to the serving area.

Artist’s Choice: An LVR Student Show is open until February 28 at the Nelson Public Library. 

It was standing room only as young artists from L.V. Rogers Secondary School Visual Arts classes welcomed over 80 friends, family, teachers and the community to the opening night of a six-week exhibition at the Nelson Public Library starting January 17.
