Today SD8 celebrates all employees whose work inspires and supports each learner to thrive in a caring learning environment.
SD8 also recognizes union partners and partner organizations and associations whose work supports SD8 employee groups.

Welcome back!
September 2 is the first day of the 2025-2026 school year.
Students will be dismissed three hours early, and buses will be scheduled accordingly.

"Since 1967, International Literacy Day (ILD) celebrations have taken place annually around the world to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights, and to advance the literacy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society."

SD8 joins the rest of Canada to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. September 30 honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

May 5th marks the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit Peoples. It is also known as Red Dress Day. It is a day to build awareness for, to promote education about, and to honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit Peoples.

Moose Hide Campaign Day is a day of ceremony where all Canadians are called to join together to take a stand against violence towards women and children.
